Who Says You Can’t Put Denim On A Wedding Dress?

Model Robin Moss contacted me this past summer and convinced me to make her a wedding dress for a photo shoot she was organizing. Robin has modeled for me in the past for a Knot Couture shoot. As it turns out, it so happened to be with a photographer I’ve worked with in the past. His name is Kevin Voth, and he has contributed his talent to Knot Couture’s archives several times. He captured some great shots of Robin, and as always, I’m very happy with the results.

A beautiful shot by Kevin.

Let me begin with the inspiration for the dress. Robin told me she wanted something flowy, so she can ride a horse in it . I decided to keep the design simple, and add an element to it that would suit this cowgirl’s style: denim. I know this was going to require a little work, as far a fabric manipulation to get it to look more elegant. I added a lace overlay and cut out the negative space. I then beaded over the lace with gold and rose gold bugle beads and gold glass pearls. The skirt was tulle  and the body of the dress is made from silk dupioni. The sash is detachable and is made out of silk georgette.

Making the Movies Jealous: Matt & Ginny

A few months ago, I stumbled across this engagement video by a cute little couple here in the heart of Georgia. I shared it with all our Knot Couture friends. I’m sharing it again with you now:

Now, if you aren’t nauseous from that mushy stuff, you are about to be. But first, let me just say that the seamstress and designer did an excellent job on this custom designed dress. I happen to know them both personally. Bravo.

Behind the Scenes: Filming of Paris on Ponce Commercial

What, what, what an AMAZING opportunity I’ve recently had:

My friend Nicolette  manages Paris on Ponce in the heart of Midtown, Atlanta. If you haven’t been there…shame on you! It is very quickly becoming my favorite place in the world.  Any who, she called me a couple of weeks ago and asked me if I would like to feature one of Knot Couture‘s dresses in a commercial they were shooting for Atlanta & Co. WOULD I?!?! Ummmm, lemme think…..

Uhhhh YEAH!?

Nicolette stepped in as an extra- time to prep her up!

Now, I’m the kind of person, that when I commit to something, I’m gonna do it right. And, because all of the Knot Couture photo shoots that Erin and I have done, I felt perfectly comfortable helping Nicolette coordinate the event!  I offered to  assist in styling and coordinating the wardrobe with the extras on the day of. We both knew that the day of the shoot would end up being either really fun, or a complete mess!  I was so flustered with getting the extras camera ready and doing makeup and pinning in hairpieces AND missing Erin (she had to work). Luckily, it went smoothly. I haven’t seen the finished product yet, but by the look of these photographs, the video is sure to be spectacular! It airs Thursday, October 27th at 11:00 AM on Atlanta & Co. on channel 11.

I’ve never been more excited to be adding something so wonderful to my portfolio, and the photographs really speak for themselves.  Tress Ritter is such an amazing talent, and Erin and I are blessed to be able to share a vision with her. As you may already know, Tress does all the photography for our bridal line, and we will be working with her a great deal over the course of the next two months. To see more of her work, check her out on Facebook.

MUAH for Knot Couture’s ‘Amber Haze’

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

For Knot Couture’s  ’Amber Haze’ photo shoot, I played the role once again, as MUA. Actually, this time I ended up styling hair as well. It was a very unique experience working on someone else’s hair other then my own. The idea was to do a low side pony tail with a small poof.  The makeup was a little more colorful, with dark a dark smudge of shadow and black liner. The result came out much better then expected! This gown was modeled by Christine Bridges and photographed by Tress Ritter.

More photos of ‘Amber Haze’ will be up on the website soon. Check out more of the spring 2011 collection at www.myknotcouture.com.

Knot Couture Reaches the Aussies!!!

Despite my recent marriage to Knot Couture, I have fallen in love yet again. His name is Google Analytics, and he whispers sweet nothings into my ear about how many people have stopped by to shop in our virtual store. Basically, you sign up at http://www.google.com/analytics and enter your email address as well as the websites connected to it, then they give you a code to somewhere post into the coding of your site. I’m not exactly sure where it goes, but that’s what my IT guy is for :-) .

With Google Analytics I can see a map of the world that is color coded depending on how many visits our store receives.  Also, we can see what the most popular items are by clicks/ views. There are graphs, pie charts and even flow charts- everything this Virgo gal could every ask for! It’s nice to just know that our store had so many visitors for it’s ‘Grand Opening’!

In other somewhat related news, ‘Crystal Dawn’ seems to be winning the hearts of so many (you can see a video of  ’Crystal Dawn’ on the homepage of my website: http://www.myknotcouture.com.) Just this morning I had an email message from someone in Australia who is very interested in customizing that style. I’m looking forward to seeing our Google Analytics map including Australia tomorrow!
